Wearing the pants

After several tumultuous months of wearing nap dresses and hoodies, it’s time to upgrade those in-the-house looks for party-ready going-out outfits. Whether you’re receiving an influx of dinner invitations or reuniting with friends at Café Sasso on Park Ave for a girls’ night out, having a playful blouse on hand will ensure you look and feel your best for every celebratory outing. Plus, it means you’ll also be wearing pants! Remember pants?

When it comes to fiesta-ready tops, brands like Paco Rabanne and Bottega Veneta do it best, with metallic, chain-mail-like camisoles and sequin-covered blouses. While shimmering embellishments are synonymous with a late-night rendezvous, it’s not all ritz and glitz. If sparkles aren’t your thing, you can still play dress-up with sleek, minimalist options like Khaite’s décolletage-baring tops and Coperni’s elegant, understated designs. Both feel a bit more easygoing than their bedazzled counterparts while still remaining just as stylish.

A jumpsuit is no mere laze-about adult onesie; it’s a fierce, figure-elongating classic. Bianca Jagger and Jerry Hall often wore them, as did ’70s bombshell Farrah Fawcett. And now the piece is back and better than ever. It’s been making rounds on the street at fashion weeks around the world, including in Stockholm, Paris, and stateside in New York.

Want to try it? There are the classic utility jumpsuits, like an army green incarnation by Jonathan Simkhai or a short-sleeved version in a sandy hue by Staud. For denim fanatics, try a dark-wash look by Andrea Bogosian that also comes belted, or for a lighter take, a pale pink version by Ganni.

The jumpsuit isn’t limited to daytime, though. On a special occasion, you might try a shiny silver halter style by Alexander Wang or a lace-embroidered get-up by Tibi. As for that cooler weather coming up? An organic cotton flare boilersuit in pastel pinks, blues, and greens by Mara Hoffman will brighten up any day. Whatever you choose, it’s an instant statement—no outfit planning required.

For this issue, we were inspired by the beautiful décor inside Café Sasso. Owner Jessica Stroud’s love for artwork is evident in the plethora of paintings, illustrations, and drawings that cover the walls of this Park Avenue café. “I have more artwork than wall space,” she says as she lovingly admires each and every piece in the warm and cozy space.
