The Quiet Place Getaways are a thoughtfully curated collection of vacation rental properties in the Finger Lakes region offering the beauty and vibrant activity of the area while prioritizing privacy, restorative relaxation, and the all-too-elusive quiet. The properties themselves present a range of offerings, from cozy cottages for two to sprawling homes that can comfortably accommodate up to eight; all have expansive views.
Want to venture out? The locations are close to great food, wineries, breweries, trails, shops, and more, offering easy access to Bristol Mountain; downtown Canandaigua; and Canandaigua, Honeoye, and Keuka Lakes. These are ideal settings for hiking, water sports, skiing, and taking in stunning views of nature year-round.
Want to stay in? You’ll nestle into your own little oasis with plenty of pampering amenities: a hot tub, a fully stocked kitchen, provided linens, and thoughtful hostess touches (fresh flowers, chocolates, music playing softly on the stereo). TQP properties are the perfect blend of comfort and convenience. Guests experience that “off the grid” feeling while still having electricity, plumbing, heat/air conditioning, and Wi-Fi. Every property has some combination of deck, porch, sunroom, and/or fire pit, to encourage you to soak up your surroundings.
While each property is individually owned, the business of bookings and communications is centrally managed by husband-and-wife team Mark and Catie Tortarella, who pride themselves on providing a personal touch from booking to checkout. They personally communicate with each TQP guest, as well as with each homeowner, to ensure that every stay meets their high expectations.

This sets the TQP tone from the beginning. The Tortarellas can talk people through which property is best for them or what to do while they are in the area. They’re happy to know what kind of occasion guests are celebrating, to offer local dining recommendations, and to welcome back past guests (now numbering more than 15,000) as they continue to be a part of their life stories.
This is a refreshing change of pace in the age of online bookings, when we often search multiple sites to compare prices for the same room and struggle to get a human on the phone to answer a question or help us work through an unexpected change in plans.
“We consider this opportunity an honor, to provide our guests with exactly what they’re needing,” says Catie.
As a family with a young son, the Tortarellas understand the importance of sharing the Quiet Place and an appreciation of nature with the next generation, so kids are welcome, too.
Most of the properties are within a ten-to-fifteen-minute drive of the picturesque town of Naples, an area that the Tortarellas have come to know and love. They are passionate about their role in the community and its tourism, calling Naples a “hidden gem.” They are members of Explore Naples NY, whose vision is to “continually strive to make Naples as economically, aesthetically, culturally, historically, and sustainably vibrant as possible for our residents and visitors alike.”

The Tortarellas are well suited to this work, as their favorite activities include exploring the area and its many local flavors. “Driving through the Finger Lakes region brings a sense of joy to our souls. There are so many new things to discover every time, which reminds us that the Quiet Place is a gateway to all of it—and how cool is that?” exclaims Catie. “We know we are doing our part when our guests become experts on our properties and the best things to do nearby.” Likewise, the property owners are well versed in all that their area has to offer, providing binders of local recommendations along with flyers and coupons.
“We love that our getaways encourage people to explore the Finger Lakes, including parts of it they may otherwise overlook: the small towns, the hillsides, the woods and waterfalls, and so much more.” Catie says.
For those looking to venture beyond the Finger Lakes, TQP recently expanded its footprint to add a property in Ellicottville.
When the Tortarellas took over the business in 2021, they also bought the original Quiet Place property, Bloomfield Cabin. They remodeled it, modernizing the kitchen and bathroom and adding a hot tub as well as a freestanding soaking tub inside, both of which look out over the private wooded lot. They were careful to approach the renovations with both new guests and longtime fans in mind, a balance they work hard to strike in their daily work with the business.
“We want to honor what our guests have come to expect and treasure—what’s been bringing people back to us for years—while also appealing to a new crowd who has yet to discover us,” Catie says. This has meant, for instance, continuing to take bookings by phone with payment sent by personal check as well as starting to accept credit card and Venmo payments. It’s also meant expanding their social media presence and keeping an eye on trends while staying true to their roots. A quick look at the images and reels populating their feeds makes for an easy sell. No matter which property you choose, you’re sure to take home with you the most priceless of souvenirs: a sense of renewal and restoration. Learn more at thequietplace.com.
