Spring watercolor flower

A NOTE FROM CRAFTY CAT

Springtime greetings, crafty kids! Flowers are “springing up” everywhere and you can create your own spring bouquet with markers and water.

As always, remember to ask an adult for permission before starting any craft or art project.

Would you like your creation to be printed in the next issue of (585) Kids? Ask an adult to send pictures of it to jm*******@58*****.com

GATHER THESE ITEMS:

Watercolor or multi-media art paper

Three waterbased markers: one darker and one lighter shade of the same color, and one green

Cotton swabs

Small cup of water

STEP 1: Using the lighter shade marker, then draw an “X”, and then a straight line across the middle. The drawing will look like a snowflake.

STEP 2: Repeat drawing snowflake shapes, leaving some space between them, until you are happy with how it looks.

STEP 3: Dip one end of a cotton swab in water, then dab it in the center of each shape you drew. Re-wet swab after every four of five flowers. Wait until the water dries before moving to next step.

STEP 4: Using the darker shade marker, make the snowflake shapes to fill in the white spaces.

STEP 5: Repeat step 3 using the other end of the swab. Wait until the water dries before moving to next step.

STEP 6: Use green marker to create a stems by drawing lines in between the flowers.
