Crafty cat – Brushless paintings

Scribble and spray a masterpiece

A NOTE FROM CRAFTY CAT

Happy winter crafty kids! If you are looking for a fun afternoon activity, try this p-awesome spin on watercolor painting. This can be a little messy, so make sure you use washable markers for easy clean up.

As always, please remember to ask an adult for permission before starting any craft or art project.

Please send pictures of your creation to [email protected] to be included in the next issue of (585) Kids!

GATHER THESE ITEMS:

Large piece of tinfoil

Watercolor paper about 5 x 7 inches

Washable water-based markers

Spray-bottle filled with water

STEP 1

Lay tinfoil on a table. Use washable markers to randomly draw circles or squares, squiggly, or straight lines—anything you want — on the tinfoil. You can even close your eyes and scribble!

STEP 2

Spray your design with water until all the color has droplets on it. You can adjust the spray by turning the nozzle.

STEP 3

Place the watercolor paper on the design you just sprayed with water and smooth out the paper so it soaks up the color.

STEP 4

Carefully lift the watercolor paper off the tinfoil and admire your cool artwork!

CRAFTY CAT IDEAS:

– Clean tinfoil with a damp towel to prepare for your next great work of art.

– Use a pencil to draw a cool design on your artwork, then trace with a black marker.

– Fold your artwork in half to create a notecard.
