Blazers always make quite an impression on the runway, no matter which season is in play. That means we can’t really claim that blazers are trending. At this point, they are 100 percent a wardrobe basic: a must-have, go-to piece. Instead, we will examine this timeless outerwear style to identify the nuances season after season. So, what’s in store this summer? The collarless blazer. We’re talking no lapels in sight. This detail, though subtle, somehow still feels very significant, so much so that we are deeming it this year’s blazer trend to know.
Should you choose to layer a shirt underneath, this particular blazer style offers up great opportunities to show off a funky collar, a glitzy assortment of necklaces with no distractions from the lapel, and overall, a very chic look. The lack of a collar creates a streamlined silhouette that reads as extremely elevated, no matter how it’s styled.

A menswear classic with a flirtatious twist, this tailored piece is far from office-appropriate—and that’s exactly how we like it. By lengthening a double-breasted jacket and nipping in the waist, designers can create an hourglass shape. With the typical white shirt absent, lapels just happen to make the perfect plunging neckline.
This style appeals to every kind of woman. And we mean that: everyone from Meghan Markle to Molly-Mae Hague has been seen in one. The rainbow-colored, belted options the Love Island crew wore back in 2019 (yes, it really was that long ago) sparked a whole new wave of the trend. We’re still partial to the classy tuxedo designs favored by the Duchess of Sussex—they’ll go the distance in your wardrobe.
The trouser suit has seen a renaissance in recent years, but if you prefer to show a little more skin, the blazer dress is ideal. You can wear figure-hugging iterations with heels to parties, oversized fits with ankle boots out to dinner, or underpin one with cigarette pants to create something more formal.
Exit the slightly-too-sensible blazer; for Fall/Winter 2021, we prefer the oversized version. It’s the ideal way to adopt the men’s wardrobe without taking oneself too seriously, by opting for a streetwear version with denim and sneakers in the style of Adut Akech. A printed option can give a sublime look like Kaia Gerber. For more sophistication, the layering option on a monochrome silhouette is a must, like Pernille Teisbaek in a totally immaculate outfit before the Chanel fashion show. A lesson in style.
