Rochester Fencing Club – Summer Camps

Although we are nationally known for our excellence in fencing instruction, we are also known for our safe and fun learning environment! We strive to bring individual attention to each person that comes through our doors.

SUMMER 2019 OFFERINGS

Knights and Ninjas — A one-week, 9:00am â€“ 4:00pm camp collaboration with our friends from Eastside Martial Arts and Points to the Cross Archery. Young people ages 8-15 receive expert instruction in fencing, archery, karate, plus a few art and science projects to catch their breath.

  • Session 1: July 29 – Aug 2
  • Session 2: Aug 5 – 9

Harley Summer Day Camp — A one-week, 9:00am â€“ 12pm camp held at the Harley School in Brighton. For beginners ages 7 – 12 who are interested in trying out the Olympic sport of fencing. This camp is a part of Harley’s Summer Academy.

  • Session 1: July 15 – 19
  • Session 2: Aug 5 – 9

Town Recreation Centers — Looking for an activity to capture your child’s imagination and get them away from electronics? Modern fencing is a competitive sport of finesse, skill, strategy and endurance.  Build self-confidence with targeted exercises and fun games as you master footwork and bladework.  Suit up in regulation fencing gear for bouting – all in the spirit of respect and good sportsmanship. Please refer to the program brochure or corresponding website to register for our camps held at town rec centers. Space is limited, so early registration is recommended.

  • Fencing Specific Camps:
  • July 22 – 26 (3 PM – 5 PM) Youth Olympic Fencing at Penfield Recreation, ages 8-12
  • Aug 12 – 16 (10 AM – 12 PM) Youth Olympic Fencing at Irondequoit Recreation, ages 8-12
  • Integrated Multi-Activity Camps:
  • July 17 – 19 (1 – 3:25 PM) Victor Summer Day Camp at Victor Recreation, grades 3- 8
  • July 23 (10 – 11 AM) Chili Day Camp at Chili Recreation, grades 4 – 6
  • July 30 (10 AM – 12 PM) Chili Day Camp at Chili Recreation, grades K – 3
  • Aug 13 (1 – 2 PM) Chili Sports Camp at Chili Recreation, grades 3- 8

Why parents like our camps:

  • All equipment is provided.
  • Suitable for beginners and those with the previous instruction.  Students will be grouped by age and level of experience.  Multiple instructors allow for individualized attention.
  • Appealing to both genders and suitable for all body types.
  • Parents can witness the fun firsthand when campers showcase their skills on the last day.
  • In addition to the fitness benefits, research has shown fencing to be not only safe, but an ideal activity to help people of all ages develop focus, sharpen memory, and improve mood.
  • Parents appreciate that the time-honored traditions of courtesy, respect and fair play are an integral part of the sport. Every bout begins by saluting your opponent and ends with a handshake.
