If your family is looking to enjoy winter activities in the Upstate area, check out Harriet Hollister Spencer State Park, located just south of Canadice. The park provides various trails for use, mostly with winter activities in mind, since the park’s high elevation causes it to receive a lot of snow. These activities range from snowshoeing to cross-country skiing to snowmobliling. Many Nordic/cross-country skiers flock to Harriet Hollister during the winter months for its wonderful trails which are well-maintained and perfect for both novice and advanced skiers alike.Park director Jerry Egenhofer recommends visiting the scenic overlook that offers a panoramic view of Honeoye Lake and the Finger Lakes region. The overlook can be found on the road into the park, and Egenhofer says, “This is a beautiful sight.”
Harriet Hollister Spencer State Park also includes pavilions that can be rented and various picnicking areas. Trails range from half a mile to two miles, so nothing is out of reach, even for young children.
