From first-hand mom experience I have learned ArtsROC is the summer and afterschool program your kid WANTS to attend. The reason being, the activities offered are the ones kids love to do at home — my daughter included — yet in a social setting with fun instructors and lots of room for creative expression. ArtsROC is a multi-faceted enrichment academy offering programs in music, foreign language, painting & drawing, anime, LEGO education, Minecraft, computer technology, computer animation, graphic design, film & video production, and STEM. “Today, kids are under a lot of pressure to be successful, leaving little time for self-exploration,” said founder and director Lori Bajorek. “Kids are not allowed to be kids anymore!” Eight years ago in the town of Pittsford, idealistic mom Lori Bajorek was finding herself more and more dissatisfied with the local programs available to her five-year-old son. She said the programs did not adequately promote the arts, and had virtually no bridge to technology, nor was there a clear plan for technological infusion. “This was simply not acceptable, so I started my own organization and created a new type of program,” Bajorek said, noting her drive was based on the needs and wants of her own son. When not making their own TV productions or stop-motion LEGO videos, ArtsROC’s students may be enjoying outdoor sports plus video gaming, primarily Minecraft — and ArtsROC’s most recent development is the all new “Internal Minecraft Server,” which allows for up to 36 players at a time. “ArtsROC works to restore the balance of a successful childhood,” Bajorek said. “Here we foster children’s innate quest for knowledge and support their happiness and their health by creating a nurturing environment that allows them to explore their passions without judgment or limitation.” How: Learn more and register online at Where: 3462 Monroe Ave., Pittsford (near Pittsford Plaza) When: Summer programs are ongoing with room for new students, and afterschool registration for the 2018-2019 school year is now open.
