Redefining tradition

Exploring new trends in wedding fashion

One of the questions we’re asked often when brides are trying on dresses in Under the Arbor is, “Is this bridal enough?” The truth of the matter is “bridal” is whatever you make it out to be. When picking out the gowns featured in this edition of (585), our minds were pretty well set on choosing looks that spoke to diversity in bridal. Before Queen Victoria declared white the color for all brides, your wedding gown was simply a dress that made you feel the most beautiful regardless of color. Take, for example, the colorful Johnny dress from the incredible designer Madison James. This elegant and whimsical gown features stunning flower appliques that turn it into an absolute work of art. Pair this dress with a wedding in the woods, on a farm, or in your family’s backyard, and the romance is practically tangible.

Next up is another stunning piece from Madison James, Inka. This ethereal gown features delicate pearls and a layer of sparkle tulle that make the bride look as if she were plucked right from the ocean. There is no doubt that this off the shoulder A-line is the perfect dress for the bride with a party flare.

Finally, we cannot forget the drama that is style 200145 from Demetrios Bridal. This soft satin, sheath gown defines glamor with its extravagant beaded edges, removable sleeves, and cathedral length removable train. This kind of style is great for a bride looking for versatility and customization. Whether it’s adding color to your dress, embracing maximalism, or creating removable elements, what you wear on your wedding day should not be defined by tradition. It should be defined only by you.
