Barbeque and brew: need we say more?

Craving a side of ribs to accompany your books? Take a short stroll over the Erie Canal and discover one of the best joints in all of Monroe County.

For more than a decade Jon and Marc Marcello have smoked their meat on-premises at 58 Main Street to award-winning acclaim. The twin brothers take time to make their dry spice rubs and tangy BBQ sauces, layering heat with texture and taste bite after bite. Slow cooking at a low- temperature ensures tender, flavorful meat cuts that fall off the bone with every forkful.

On a recent visit, we ordered an assortment of impeccably sauced and smoked meats “from the pig pen”:

  • Hickory-smoked wings
  • Pulled pork
  • St. Louis–style ribs
  • Beef brisket

Oh, and did I mention the sides? Warm, cinnamon-glazed apples, which can only be described as pie in a cup, and a dense slab of cornbread, itself bordering on buttery pudding, also made onsite, come standard with every dinner. Complete your order with a side of Cajun or sweet potato fries, pulled pork beans, or a salad, if you must.58 Main is more than barbecue and also serves hot sandwiches, specialty wraps, and fresh seafood every Friday night. I’m looking forward to returning to try the chicken tender and bacon studded mac and cheese.Stop in for lunch or dinner; you won’t be disappointed— just don’t forget the napkins!
