Anderson Alley Artists
A community of artists with studios on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors of the Anderson Arts Building (a former shoe factory) this is a unique introduction to art on First Fridays or Second Saturdays of each month. In the heart of Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts, this is a treasure to introduce your kids to, but plan to go back as one visit won’t be enough. Kids will love interacting with the artists and asking questions or being shown different forms of art including plastic sculptures, paintings, pottery, jewelry and collages!

RIT’s Gallery R Downtown
Gallery r is RIT’s metro art space, featuring exhibitions and projects by RIT students, faculty, alumni and visiting artists. The gallery is open to the public Thursday – Sunday, 1-5pm. If your child is art-oriented or interested in a variety of art forms, take them to see this gallery!

Memorial Art Gallery
Introduce your kids to the many avenues of art in MAG’s permanent collection and traveling exhibitions. Strolling through the gallery may be for the older child, as a quiet nature is important. For the younger ones, a fun-filled scavenger hunt throughout the Memorial Art Gallery makes finding different art forms an enjoyable challenge. Enroll your child in their creative workshop classes for kids and see what creativity and imagination your child has!

Rochester Contemporary Art Center
Visit this downtown location with your kids to get a sense of what contemporary art is about. Talk about what they are seeing and ask them which ones they like or don’t like. Carry the theme by encouraging them to create at home! Don’t miss the 6”x6” annual show where kids are encouraged to submit a piece of art. This gallery will wow your kids!

Artisan Works
A cross between an art gallery and an incubator for emerging artists, you’ll see an impressive collection of artwork, antique cars, neon signs and nostalgia pieces. This is the place where young and old alike experience creation and inspiration. Wind through the many areas of Artisan Works and see a number of artist’s work and creations! Visit the unique works in sculpture, painting, and roughly 500,000 items in this spectacular 40,000 square foot renovated factory building. Kids will love the silly to the elaborately serious pieces.
