Cordancia Chamber Orchestra Concert: Crossing Seas

Cordancia Chamber Orchestra
Conductor Evan Meccarello
Soloist Ella Zack, winner of the senior division of the 2026 Nico Toscano Young Musician Competition, performing Arvo Pärt’s Fratres.
Crossing Seas highlights composers with personal or family experience crossing the ocean to live in another country, including three who came to the US: Chen Yi (Duo Ye), Huang Ruo (The Grand Song), and Béla Bartók (Hungarian Pictures). These three composers all integrate music from their birthplaces into the broader Western Classical tradition. Also featured are two sea-inspired pieces by women, Seascape by Ruth Gipps and the North American premiere of Julie Reisserová’s Pastorale Maritimo. This follows on Cordancia’s premiere of Reisserová’s Suite for orchestra last season.
