Concert – 50 Years of Song and Symphony

Come to hear the world-renowned Dr. Yoojin Jang, now of the Eastman School of Music, in her fiery performances of Saint-Saens’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso and Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen (Gypsy Airs), both for violin and orchestra, led by Music Director Dr. Yunn-Shan Ma. GVOC celebrates its golden 50th anniversary with selections from the Christmas portion of the Messiah, in a nod to our origins. In 1976 Sr. Virginia Hogan founded GVOC with a Messiah performance for the US bicentennial, on a barge on the Erie Canal! But we promise to keep you dry and comfortable. Also on the program are Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture and two John Rutter selections, celebrating his 80th birthday. Dessert reception with historical slideshow to follow!
